Breast Reduction Questions
Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas
Am I a good candidate for a breast reduction?
If you suffer from neck, back or shoulder pain because of the weight of your breasts, or if you are self-conscious about your large breast size, breast reduction surgery may be right for you. Dr. Rai can determine your specific needs during a private consultation.
How is breast reduction surgery performed?
With breast reduction sugary, Dr. Rai typically makes incisions around the areola and underneath the breast. Dr. Rai then removes the excess fat, tissue and skin and moves the areola and nipple higher on the breast. The procedure reduces the size and reshapes the breast. The scars may be hidden by a bra or bathing suit.
How soon will I be able to return to work?
Most breast reduction patients resume their daily routines within 1-2 weeks. However, you should wait several weeks before resuming mild exercise or other strenuous activities. You should be extremely gentle with your breasts for six weeks following surgery.
What are the risks of breast reduction surgery?
As with any surgical procedure, breast reduction surgery has some risk. Complications such as bleeding, an infection or a reaction to anesthesia are rare, but they do occur. Dr. Rai will explain all the risks associated with breast reduction surgery during your private consultation.
