Liposuction Surgery Questions
Dallas and Ft. Worth, Texas
Am I a good candidate for liposuction?
If you have realistic expectations and are at or near your ideal body weight, you may be a good liposuction candidate. Dr. Rai performs liposuction on patients who are at least 18 years old and do not have significant medical problems like heart disease, lung disease or diabetes.
What are the risks of liposuction?
Liposuction is a surgical procedure. As with any surgery, it involves risks such as the possibility of infection, bleeding, blood clots and adverse reactions to anesthesia. Dr. Rai will discuss these risks with you during your liposuction consultation in our Dallas, Texas office.
Which areas of the body can be treated with liposuction?
Dr. Rai uses liposuction to remove unwanted fat from the abdomen, buttocks, hips, thighs, legs, face, arms, neck and back.
What does liposuction cost?
In our Dallas plastic surgery office, the cost of liposuction depends on how many areas of the body we treat. We offer financing to help make liposuction more affordable for our patients. Please contact us for specific questions about the cost of your liposuction surgery.
What is the difference between ultrasonic liposuction and tumescent liposuction?
Ultrasonic liposuction is more properly referred to as Ultrasound Assisted Lipoplasty (UAL). UAL uses a specialized liposuction cannula that emits high frequency sound waves to liquefy the fat before it is removed. With tumescent liposuction, Dr. Rai injects salt water containing lidocaine and small amounts of adrenaline into the area to be treat. This numbs the affected area. This also shrinks the blood vessels and expands the fat layer for easier removal. Then, Dr. Rai suctions out both the water and the excess fat.
